What is Futolyn?
Futolyn is a brand name for fluconazole, an antifungal medication used to treat and prevent fungal infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, and systemic infections like cryptococcal meningitis.
Dosage and Administration
- Adults:
- Vaginal Candidiasis: Single oral dose of 150 mg.
- Oropharyngeal Candidiasis: 200 mg on day 1, then 100 mg once daily for at least 2 weeks.
- Systemic Infections: 400 mg on day 1, followed by 200–400 mg daily.
- Children: Dosage depends on weight and specific infection. Consult your doctor.
Uses
Futolyn is prescribed for treating candidiasis, cryptococcal meningitis, and preventing fungal infections in immunocompromised individuals.
